Meteorological Monitoring

The most used instruments for meteorological monitoring are:

Local Monitoring

Weather stations

Sensors of rain, temperature, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation, and many other parameters.

Webcam for environmental monitoring.

Remote Sensing

Meteorological Radar

Radar gives an extimation of rain rate in the area covered by the radius of action (in the order of ten to some hundreds of kilometers, depending on the instrument).

Satellites take pictures of the earth at different wavelenghts, from the visible to the infrared, and they send them to the land receivers.

Lightning detector

Records the electrical activity in the atmosphere into the action radius. There are networks of detectors that compose complete mapping for specific areas.

New images and data obtained by local monitoring and remote sensing in Adriatic area will be added to this website.
